Parish Missions
Misiones Parroquiales del Grupo The Reid Group

What Is A Mission?

A parish or congregational mission is a means of spiritual renewal based on Scripture and the Christian faith tradition. The mission, because of its primarily spiritual rather than catechetical focus, helps participants grow closer to God and deepen their capacity to live their faith day to day. Prayer and ritual are very important in a mission, as are attention to head, heart and habit. A parish mission is also experiential and uses principles of adult learning, combined with a strong family dimension.

What Is The Mission Format And Process?
The Reid Group format for Missions begins with preaching at weekend worship, includes a short presentation during announcement time, and continues with morning and evening sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition, there is an option for evening sessions for kindergarten through 6th grade children and for junior and senior high teens on one or all three days.
The process includes prayer, large group presentations and responses from members, a variety of experiential activities, small group discussions, quiet time, and ritual.
Who Is The Mission For?
The mission is for any and every church member and their friends and neighbors.
Who Is Presenting The Mission?
The Reid Group Parish Mission team is comprised of experienced lay ministers. Carol Guenther coordinates The Reid Group team. In addition, members of the parish will be trained to serve as responders and prayer leaders.
